Community Based Instruction (CBI)
Students in kindergarten through twelve are provided the opportunity to participate in Community–Based Instruction (CBI) with the belief that every student is capable of living and enjoying leisure activities in their community. CBI incorporates academic, communication, recreation/leisure, and vocational domains. During CBI, environments are visited repeatedly in order to provide instruction for targeted skills. Instructional procedures, accommodations, and assistive technology are determined prior to entering community sites and modifications are made as appropriate to in order to reinforce and maintain acquired skills.
Our students visit locations around Richmond such as grocery stores, shopping centers, museums, retail stores, historical venues, and more!!
