Vision Program

Vision hearing graphic The Vision Program at Amelia Street School provides educational supports and services to students who are blind or visually impaired. Teachers of the Visually Impaired deliver a range of services to these students including: consultation to teachers and related service staff regarding students’ vision needs, direct instruction (i.e. Pre-Braille instruction, Braille instruction, compensatory skills, technology, utilization of functional vision, vision stimulation), and provision of adapted materials and specialized equipment. The Vision Program is staffed certified Teachers of the Visually Impaired. The Vision Program is committed to ensuring that each student with a visual impairment has the necessary accommodations and appropriate materials/equipment and instruction to successfully access his or her specific curriculum.

Hearing Program

The Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program at Amelia Street School is committed to providing the highest quality comprehensive services for Deaf and hard of hearing students (K-12). According to students' individual needs, Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing deliver a range of services including: consultation to teachers and related service staff regarding students’ hearing needs, direct instruction, and provision of adapted materials and specialized equipment (i.e. FM systems, sign language).
